A Look at jOlt in Japan
jOlt Wrestling is on a new initiative to send stars to Global Pro, a wrestling company in Japan in order to strengthen their relationship overseas. There is some talk that this relationship between the two companies could mean something huge in 2015!
Here is a look at what some of the jOlt talent has been up to since heading over to the land of the rising sun!
Kayden Paulton had a good run in jOlt. He earned the nickname "The World's Nicest Number One Contender" as he became contender to the Underground and World Championships numerous times. However, he did fall short in the states, but that's not the case in Japan! It was just two weeks ago that Kayden Paulton defeated Soichiro Yamada to capture the Global Pro International Heavyweight Championship!
Paulton has refined his wrestling style. He has taken a lot of the pleasantries out of his match and saved them for the beginning and the end where he would always shake the hand of his opposition as a sign of respect, but from bell to bell, Kayden took on a more proactive approach to his matches, adding more intensity and that small change garnered him victory after victory. It eventually earned him a contendership and now a championship.
Kayden Paulton is no longer "The World's Nicest Number One Contender". He is now "The World's Most Respectful Champion!"
Two men who were part of the reformation of The Backbone continued to team together in Japan. Calling themselves "The Bane of Existance", they have begun to demolish the tag teams overseas. Ancient Dawn, which consists of Minori Kayushi and Takuharu Ishimoto, are currently the Global Pro World Tag Team Champions. They have recognized the feats accomplished by The Bane of Existence and are ready to face them should they become contenders.
Next week, The Bane of Existence has a contendership match against one of Global Pro's high-flying and death-defying tag teams, Ranhei Style. The team of KORI and Keiichi Yazuki had been on top of Global Pro before and are five-time Global Pro Tag Team Champions. They lost the belts to Ancient Dawn and look to regain them for a record breaking sixth time, but The Bane of Existence stand in their way and with their momentum, their chances at making history might be in jeopardy!
Mattock has undergone a major transformation. He cut his hair short and now wears a mask. The mask itself houses a wide grin for a mouth held closed by a zipper. It looks more like the bottom half of a sadistic gas mask!
Mattock has altered his personality and style. While still a crowd favorite, Mattock is taking more risks in the ring, but they are calculated risks. He has revamped his entire moveset and his movements and mannerisms are borderline creepy. He went from innovation to highly unorthodox. His new finisher, which he simply calls The Slaying, is the ever-famous Burning Hammer, but right before he hits hit, he will unzip the mouth on his mask and yell to the world "UNRAVEL GHOUL"
Mattock has also added a lot of kicks to his arsenal and most of his moves, while still innovative, target the head and neck of the opponent, softening them up for the devastating Burning Hammer finishing maneuver. If the impact isn't enough, or if the opponent is too large, Mattock has a new secondary finisher in store for his opponents. It's a crossface submission, but instead of trapping the arm between his legs, he wraps it around the back of his head for more torque and pressure! He calls the move, The Silencing and it does put people away rather quickly!
Mattock is, so far, undefeated in Japan! Could this be what he needed to break out of his brother's shadow? Many people say he's finally done just that!
One of jOlt's most famous Starlets, Persephone has ventured into Global Pro's Joshi division and has refined her style to include more strikes in addition to her normal arsenal. It has brought her some success as she has put down many opponents. She even garnered a surprise upset victory over the Global Pro Joshi Champion, Lia Hamada, which earned her a contendership. However, Lia's stable, En.J.U. (which stands for En-ticing Joshis United), has made life difficult for Persephone because they feel she's not beautiful enough to even come close to their leader for a championship opportunity.
It's a classic war between America and Japan as En.J.U. feels they are superior in beauty and grace while Americans are dirty and disgusting, but Persephone is out to prove them wrong! Only time will tell if she will be able to overcome the odds and capture the Joshi Championship from the gorgeous, yet, self-centered Lia Hamada.
