Cards on the Table
THE FOLLOWING IS EXLCUSIVE FOOTAGE THAT WAS CAPTURED AFTER THE EVENTS OF INTENSE 89 BETWEEN THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE – “BIG BUCKS” ADAM ROEBUCK, “THE ODDSMAKER” DERRICK HUBER, AND THE FORMER STARLETS CHAMPION CHARLOTTE
“What in the HELL was that, Roe? What the fuck were you thinking out there? You’re better than that!”
The voice belonged to Derrick Huber. Both members of The House had just finished up outside when Adam Roebuck had defeated The Heirs of Wrestling member Mack Brody with the questionable use of an exposed turnbuckle. Roebuck didn’t look pleased to hear the words coming from his partner’s mouth and Charlotte was standing by her angered husband.
“I won the match after the Heirs fucked with us for months,” Roebuck said icily, “that’s what I did.”
When Adam Roebuck tried to walk away, Derrick Huber grabbed his arm.
“No, we aren’t done, Adam. Not this time.”
“Adam, will you just talk to us?” Charlotte pleaded. “What has gotten into you? Why are you being like this?”
Roebuck pulled his hand away but Huber’s concerned look showed that he wasn’t finished speaking by any stretch.
“You listen to me NOW. We’re going to have this out and you’re not fucking going anywhere until you tell me exactly what the fuck is going on in your head. Okay, if this is still about Red and Ted, man … they aren’t coming back and you made sure of that. We have a chance to get the belts back on Sunday and we’re going to do it.”
Adam was about to turn away again when Huber snatched his arm. Roebuck pulled it back this time.
“Get your damn hands off me,” Roebuck scowled.
Charlotte hid behind her husband as things were escalating. She’d had seen these two fight before in their years as a team long before they were in jOlt, but probably not like this.
“Fuck you, Roe. You’ve been dodging calls after shows, not answering texts when we aren’t here. So what’s going on, huh? You getting tired of doing things the right way now? And what’s with those fucking Hands Of The Cause assholes skulking around here when you’ve been disappearing?”
Roebuck was still keeping his mouth shut.
“Oh, that it, huh? You’re going to side with them? They want to break shit and you want to break shit with them? Man, come on … I don’t want to fucking think that of you, man, not after every little thing that we’ve been through. Thirteen years as a team, man! Thirteen fucking years and THIS is how you want to act? Look … whatever is going on, you can talk to me about this. You …”
“… I’m doing this for the both of YOU.”
The words finally came out of Roebuck’s mouth as he looked disgusted with himself.
“What?” Huber asked.
“I told you I’m doing this for the both of you! Don’t you dare tell me where my loyalties lie, Derrick. Do you not see the number of people who have been fucking with is since we’ve been here? It’s because we’re threats to anything we touch. The tag tam division, singles, Underground, we can do whatever we want to, but people have been fucking around with us for too long. Team EGO conned your wife into a contract or have you forgotten?”
Hurtfully, Charlotte spoke up.
“I remember.”
“The Heirs of Wrestling,” Adam continued, “or do I need to even continued with them? I don’t care if the fans are cracked out and like those fucking punk kids, my opinion on them will NEVER changed. And you were here for Red and Ted. They could never defeat us straight up so they conned that Ken Kaze kid out of his guaranteed Tag Title shot and used on us. I’m tired, Adam … I’m fucking tired of people screwing with us. People are STILL scheming against us and trying to break us up so I’m taking matters into our own hands now.”
Huber tried to cut in when Roebuck held up his hands.
“Let me finish! That’s why I went out there, I chokeslammed their fucking manager, I powerbombed that fucker Redding on the barricade and I tossed Teddy Jacobs off the stage. They fucked with you, they fucked with Charlotte and they fucked with us and I got tired of it. What happened to Brody … he deserved, too, they all did for what they’ve done in the past … other people seemed to forget, but I haven’t. People need to star fearing us again, Adam. They need to start taking us seriously again and if we have to scramble a few bodies to do it, then god damn it, I’m going to do it! We’ve been down this path before, we cracked skulls in Puerto Rico a few years ago and you had no qualms, Adam.”
“Roebuck, come on, man, that was a different time and we don’t need…”
“Yeah … yeah, we do. The Heirs are willing to do what they can to win and from what we’ve seen of Hendrix and his boys … Charlotte, you’ve seen what Winterton’s willing to do for your title, are you willing to do it back to her? And Huber … don’t you fucking DARE tell me where my loyalties lie. They will always be with you and Charlotte. Always. Now do you want to sit here and sulk like a couple of pussy children or do you want to get our belts back?”
The Hubers exchanged glances between them before they looked back to Roebuck.
“I do want that belt back,” Charlotte said, “but I’m going to do it MY way.”
“Roe …” Huber said, “I’m sorry. I’m sorry and I do want those belts back … I shouldn’t doubt you, man. But you need to know that we’re not done. When we win those belts back Sunday, we’re going to do it the right way.”
Derrick and Charlotte walked off and left Roebuck all alone. The giant simply stewed.
“What can I do to make you two understand?”
