The Chains That Bind Us

The scene opened up to a dark, dimly lit room. Upon closer inspection, it appeared to be a basement. The sound of water dripping could be heard in the background. Soon, the rustling of chains could be heard. The camera panned around the room and it revealed Derecho, tattered in rags, chained to a cold concrete wall. His arms and legs were bound.. there was dirt and cuts all over his body. Caked blood stained his physique as he wet, straggly hair covered his face.

Derecho's voice then began to narrate the scene.

"Pain is an illusion that binds us. What it binds us to is all fabricated in our minds. Despair... agony... hopelessness... or perhaps hope itself.. hope for relief.. hope for when the pain will come to an end. Whatever your reason, the pain will bind you much like chains bind those who are weak and cannot fathom a world in which they become king."

Derecho looked up, his blue eyes reflecting in the pale light. He gritted his teeth.

"But slowly, we contemplate pain... we understand pain... and we come to even love pain. When we embrace the pain as our own... we begin to shatter the chains that bind us.

Derecho stood. The camera quickly switched to his left arm has he quickly yanked it forward, the chain snapping. Another quick camera angle of him throwing his leg forward, snapping another chain. The third and fourth chains were snapped in even faster transitions.

Derecho then began to laugh.

A close up of Derecho's face was shown. The camera pulled back to reveal Derecho standing there with broken chains dangling from his cuffs. He begins to stumble forward.

"When you become free, you begin to take your first steps toward freedom. You liberate your mind and you become something more."

Derecho placed his hand on a cold steel door, presumable that of a prison cell. Derecho pushed it open.

The camera then quickly switched to the inside of the Arena of Champions. The black curtain was drawn back and Derecho walked out dressed in a black leather trench coat. His black skull crown mask worn upon his head. The camera pans around to an empty arena, but Derecho stands alone at the top of the stage.

"You become King"

A close up of Derecho's skull crown is shown. Beneath it you could see Derecho's piercing blue eyes through the holes and a sadistc grin across his face.

The scene fades to black.
